On Yer Bike Putin! |
|
After playing host to Anna Chapman and the rest of the spooks returned to Moscow last week, welcoming them as heroes, Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin headed down to Sevastopil to demonstrate his masculinity and status as a cool dude.
In a move akin to that which we might expect of our Mayor Chernovetsky who feels the need to demonstrate his machismo on a regular basis, Putin straddled a large Harley Davidson and cruised around the town and the surrounding countryside with a crowd of tattooed bikers.
The man’s approval rating slumped to the lowest level since he took over as prime minister, and perhaps he thought this show of masculinity might boost his appeal.

And to bolster his appeal to the Hell’s Angels community, he told the rest of the bikers present: “Long live Russia, long live Ukraine, long live bikes.” Having said that, he was on a trike, which makes one think he can’t handle two wheels and needs a stabiliser.
Interestingly, he had both the Russian and Ukrainian flags flying from the back of his tricycle, which could either be seen as a diplomatic nod of the head to the country in which the home of his Black Sea fleet resides, or as his view of the extent which his premiership covers these days.

And with the event’s old venue (Mystetskiy Arsenal) overshadowed by our country’s illustrious Dovzhenko Studios, that commemoration has certainly got bigger and better this year.

Book ‘Em Danylo
With more and more internationals making paths across Ukraine’s border, Kyiv’s police force has been getting out and cleaning up the city’s streets. And while this would typically be a welcome respite to the complete lack of attention residents often receive from City Administration, our boys in blue seem to be focusing in on all the wrong people. To find out just what’s been going on, the What’s On team have put on our night vision goggles and dusted off our super hearing enhancement devices and gone on a mission…
